The team at Nu Image Audio in Salina was recently contacted by the owner of this 2016 Jaguar F-Pace to consult on a subwoofer upgrade. The client loved the way the stock stereo system sounds, except that it lacks low-frequency output. After inspecting the vehicle and talking to the client about how he listens to his music, we put together a package that will deliver the performance this client wanted.
Jaguar F-Pace Subwoofer System
The client wanted something simple and effective to improve the bass performance of the factory stereo. We suggested that the Rockford Fosgate P1-1X10 subwoofer system would be a perfect match for the vehicle. This enclosure features a single 10-inch Punch-Series subwoofer that is rated to handle up to 500 watts of maximum power. The enclosure is constructed from 5/8-inch MDF and features a durable high-density carpet. The subwoofer is protected by a durable mesh grille and the opening for the vent has a grille with an open hexagonal pattern.
Subwoofer Amplifier Integration
After testing the wiring from the factory amplifier, we installed a PAC LP7-2R LocPRO line-level converter to convert the amplified audio signal into something that would connect to the new amplifier we would install next. This adapter also generates a remote turn-on output to activate the new amp as soon as the factory stereo is turned on.
We mounted a Rockford Fosgate Prime-Series R150X2 amp in the back corner of the trunk just behind the vehicle battery. We used a Stinger 8-AWG wiring kit to connect the amp to the battery and, of course, used Stinger RCA interconnects to link the PAC line-level converter to the new amp. We mounted a remote bass level control near the driver’s seat so the client can fine-tune the output of the new sub to work with the music he’s listening to or his mood.
With everything installed, the last step was to configure the line-level converter to work with the Jaguar amplifier and set the sensitivity and crossover controls on the amp to best integrate the subwoofer into the rest of the system.

With the install complete and the system tuned, it was time for the client to return to Nu Image Audio in Salina and listen to his new Jaguar subwoofer system for the first time. He was thrilled with the way this upgrade transformed the sound system. Not only did it now have the bass he wanted, but the rest of the speakers in the system don’t have to work as hard and sound much better.
